Remembering Dr. Gerard William Clum https://www.chiropractic.org/remembering-dr-gerard-william-clum/ Sun, 29 Oct 2023 19:34:45 +0000 https://www.chiropractic.org/?p=41415 ...]]> 1952-2023

Dr. Gerard W. Clum

October 28, 2023 (Falls Church, VA) It is with a heavy heart, that I share the news of the passing of one of the Giants of the chiropractic community and healthcare overall – Dr. Gerard William Clum.

ICA President, Dr. Selina Sigafoose Jackson stated, “Dr. Gerard Clum, known to many as Gerry, was one of my first memories at Life Chiropractic College. He and his family lived right down the street from our family condo in Ashborough Village. I used to babysit his children while visiting my siblings who were in chiropractic school, over my summer break. I never knew a man who could be so intelligent and important, yet so down to earth. Over the years, I have had the privilege of traveling abroad with him and sharing stages. My memories of Dr. Clum carry so much laughter, compassion, and awe. Gerry is truly a chiropractic legend. I am not sure he would have seen himself as that, but I don’t know anyone who would dare see him any other way.

I know his wife Cathy and their children are suffering right now and most likely will for some time. But love runs deep, and I pray they have the gift of feeling his presence in all their memories, love, and laughter they will share for years to come. Knowing that many of us thank God that He gave our chiropractic family and profession this gift of a man, even if it was for this too short of a time. We will remain forever grateful for the time we had and the power he so eloquently shared. “

About Dr. Clum: He grew up in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Clum’s story started with first official adjustment, which was not a ‘back or neck pain’ issue, but something much more profound. Dr. Clum received his first adjustment as a young teen in an attempt to save his vision after conventional medical approaches had failed to resolve the issue or even give any hope. His parents were told he would be blind by the time he turned 18.

Vision preserved, Dr. Clum chose chiropractic as his career, and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1973. After graduation, Dr. Clum practiced in Davenport, Iowa and accepted an appointment as an instructor at his alma mater. In 1975, Dr. Sid E. Williams, in founding of Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia, saw Dr. Clum’s potential and appointed him as a member of the charter faculty, the “Day One Faculty”, of Life Chiropractic College.

Dr. Clum went on to serve as the Registrar and Director of Admissions at Life Chiropractic College and ultimately as the Chair of the Division of Chiropractic Sciences at the College. In 1980, Dr. Clum was awarded an honorary Doctor of Chiropractic Humanities for his efforts in the development years of the College.

Dr. Williams, again saw his potential and sent Dr. Clum west to establish a second college; and in January 1981, Dr. Clum was appointed President of Life Chiropractic College West (Hayward, CA). He served in that role for the next 30 years through January 2011. At the time of his retirement from Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Clum was provided with the title ‘President Emeritus’ by the Board of Regents of Life Chiropractic College West.

Dr. Clum is known for his ability to translate complex technical/clinical matters into readily understood and appreciated concepts. He has served as a postgraduate faculty member at ten chiropractic educational institutions.

In March 2011, Dr. Clum again accepted a faculty appointment at Life University in Atlanta, Georgia. At that time, he was named the Director of The Octagon at Life University as well as the President’s Liaison for External Affairs. Subsequently, he was appointed Director of the Center for Compassion, Integrity and Secular Ethics also at Life University.

The Octagon Institute Legacy: This last dozen years of Dr. Clum’s career may have the most profound effect, not just on chiropractic, but in society and the global community. The Octagon was established in 2007 to be a vibrant, dynamic, and engaging community of academics, researchers, business leaders, political scientists, and dreamers who would be willing to engage questions of the day from the perspective of Life University’s vitalistic philosophy that sees all systems as inter-related, and all living systems as self-aware, self-healing and self-evolving. Under Dr. Clum’s leadership, it was focused on fulfilling the Board’s vision that it serve as a vehicle to promote world-changing conversations addressing Life University’s eight core proficiencies: Integrity and Citizenship, Communication and Relationship Theory, Philosophy of Human Existence, Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Belief Systems and Performance, Learning Theory/Critical Thinking, Contemporary Scientific Paradigms, and Integrative Change. Each year, The Octagon hosted a conference or think tank to advance a topic.

Beth Clay, ICA Executive Director stated, “While I had known Dr. Clum for my years at the National Institutes of Health and working for Congress as a leader in the chiropractic profession, it was not until we both were volunteering on a number of projects, including the Integrative Health Policy Consortium, that I came to call him friend and mentor. The brilliance of this ‘Gentleman Scholar’ is recognized worldwide. In 2013, I was honored to participate in the Octagon Conference, “Creating 2025” and be immersed for three solid days on a single vision – maximizing the potential of chiropractic with Dr. Clum and the gathered experts. It was a profound experience in witnessing his depth of knowledge not just of chiropractic, but all of health care and vision for how chiropractic can play a major role in reshaping how the nation, the world perceives health, not through the lens of medicine, but through the lens of personal empowerment. These last few years have been particularly challenging for Gerry, but through it all, he willingly shared his wisdom, his amazing sense of humor, his love for Cathy and his family, and his friendship.”

One of the most profound efforts led by Dr. Clum is the Chillon Project. (http://www.compassion.life.edu/chillon-project/) This undertaking of LIFE’s Center for Compassion, Integrity and Secular Ethics (CCISE), together with the Georgia Department of Corrections, introduced degree programs in Georgia’s correctional facilities. It will be one of a handful of such programs in the entire Southeast. An innovative feature of The Chillon Project is the inclusion of scholarships for correctional officers employed by the GDC, as well as their family members, to also have increased access to higher education at Life University.

When one realizes that when Life University was established, only about half of Georgians would receive a high school diploma; the extension of Sid William’s vision to bring college education to more Georgians by extending it through the Chillon Project is truly the embodiment of the Lasting Purpose: To live an inner-directed life, to give, to do, to love, to serve, out of your own abundance.

ICA Saddened by the Passing of Past President, Dr. Michael S. McLean https://www.chiropractic.org/ica-saddened-by-the-passing-of-past-president-dr-michael-s-mclean/ Thu, 24 Aug 2023 21:06:35 +0000 https://www.chiropractic.org/?p=39805 ...]]>

August 23, 2023, Falls Church, VA – The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) mourns the passing of Past President and long-time advocate, Dr. Michael S. McLean of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Current ICA President Dr. Selina Sigafoose Jackson shared the following thoughts:

While serving the ICA on a Zoom call this evening, I was informed of the sudden passing of a fearless leader, friend, and colleague, Dr. Michael McLean. This gentleman single-handedly politically took charge for chiropractic. He so effortlessly encouraged and explained how anyone could move the needle politically with their local legislators. He taught us all how to make our way into the door to protect and promote chiropractic.

“The love of his life, Dr. Pat McLean, passed on May 8, 2023. While Dr. Mike’s health was fading, there is no doubt that the loss of Pat contributed to his passing at this time.

“I was so honored to receive the call on a Saturday afternoon in the autumn of 2013, with my father sitting by my side, from Dr. Mike asking me to serve with him and Dr. Ron Oberstein as an officer on the ICA Board. Truth be told, I was blown away to be considered and took the opportunity with great seriousness. Like Dr. Mike’s wife Pat, Mike saw something in me that I did not see or know in myself. He is responsible for me getting involved in ICA leadership and the subsequent results of building strong relationships over the last 10 years. For that, I am so thankful.

“I loved listening to Mike speak. He was so elegant in his appearance, stature, and words. He would use vocabulary that I would have to use a thesaurus to understand. I cannot imagine the chiropractic world, ICA, or his family without him in it; but, as the saying goes, he is certainly in a better place.

“His passing is bittersweet. Dr. Mike will be so missed by many, but being reunited with his love, Pat, is such a sweet image that we can all hang on to. So long wonderful friend!”

About Michael S. McLean, DC, FICA: Michael S. McLean, DC, FICA, was presented the Association’s highest honor for 2005, Chiropractor of the Year, at ICA’s 79th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC in April of that year. Dr. McLean served in many leadership positions in the ICA, including as ICA Assembly Representative for Virginia, as a Member of the ICA Board of Directors, as Chair of ICA’s Legislative Committee, and as ICA President from 2013-2015. He served as an ICA representative to many other chiropractic organizations, including the Chiropractic Coalition. Dr. McLean worked tirelessly on federal legislation and was personally responsible for the development and introduction of many key chiropractic legislative initiatives. Dr. McLean was appointed by the Secretary of Defense to serve on a new advisory committee created by Congress to advise the Department of Defense (DOD) on chiropractic healthcare programs for military personnel. Dr. McLean was one of a very small handful of doctors of chiropractic selected to participate in the DOD Chiropractic Health Benefits Advisory Committee.

In 2002, Dr. McLean was also appointed to serve on the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Chiropractic Advisory Committee, created by Congress to advise the Secretary and the Department on the implementation of a chiropractic services program for veterans mandated by Congress. The appointment was made by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Dr. McLean was one of only six doctors of chiropractic from across the nation to be selected for this important committee assignment.

Dr. McLean served the community of Virginia Beach, Virginia for many decades and was a leader in state and national professional organizations and political affairs. Dr. McLean came from a large and active chiropractic family. He practiced with his wife, Dr. Patricia McLean, and has a daughter, son, son-in-law, and sister-in-law who are also doctors of chiropractic. When Dr. Pat desired to have a clinic in Hawaii, Dr. Mike gladly joined in the effort.

Dr. McLean, a 1974 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa, served in many volunteer capacities in numerous professional and community organizations. Dr. McLean was a founder and Past President of the Hampton Roads Chiropractic Association, a founder and Past President of the Virginia Society of Chiropractic, and Chairman of the International Chiropractors Association Political Action Committee. He has written extensively for health publications and has regularly testified on behalf of the chiropractic profession before numerous Congressional committees.

Before attending Palmer College, Dr. McLean conducted his undergraduate work at Vanderbilt and the University of California. During his career, he and Dr. Pat pioneered LightForce® Adjusting Technique, which he taught as a member of the post-graduate faculty at Life Chiropractic College.

Dr. McLean with Dr. Stephanie Youngblood and Senator Harry Reid

He Cared about Veterans: Dr. McLean was an inspiring leader, faithful to chiropractic and to our nation. In honoring him, and his dedication to those who served our nation in uniform, he shared this message in November 2013 for Veterans Day: “On November 11th many nations around the world honor the service and sacrifice of military veterans and remember those who paid the ultimate price in service of their nation. In the United States, we celebrate Veterans Day as a national holiday. This is so important in light of the continuing sacrifices our men and women in uniform continue to make on our behalf, as well as they have done throughout the ages.

“Today is Poppy Day in New Zealand, and Remembrance Day in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom, where people traditionally observe two minutes of silence at 11 am on November 11th. The poppy, famous from the World War I poem ‘In Flanders Fields,’ is visible in the US and elsewhere as a symbol of honor and remembrance of those who gave their lives in past wars. As ICA President, I feel it was important and appropriate to acknowledge this special day each and every year. There are nearly 25 million military veterans in the United States, with more than 930,000 having served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the current conflicts in those countries. Likewise, our friends around the world, including Great Britain, Canada, Australia and others, have also sacrificed greatly in those regions. It is my fondest hope that we will all be mindful of the sacrifice so many have made in defense of our beliefs and freedoms. Their example, their message; that ‘What we believe in is worth fighting for,’ is especially poignant and meaningful to us as chiropractors. I believe that it is so important that we in the ICA both remember the sacrifice and honor their example and their courage in answering their nation’s call to battle. I am reminded of the words of Abraham Lincoln, in his first inaugural address in March of 1861, when he sought to stir the hearts of the people with reminders of the sacrifice on which the nation was founded. He said, ‘The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearth-stone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.’

“Those who have returned deserve the best care, the greatest degree of understanding and the widest possible community support as they seek to resume civilian life. In this effort, every citizen has a role… To all who served in the military, and to the families who waited at home, and to those serving now, we say THANK YOU. You will never be forgotten.”

Dr. McLean with Congressman Richard Armey

ICA Executive Director, Beth Clay, said, “Dr. Mike McLean was one-of-a-kind – self-assured; confident in his foundation in chiropractic principles and in the philosophy of personal liberty; and dedicated to service. Even after retiring from the ICA Board, Dr. McLean continued to be a valued resource and mentor. His passion for protecting and promoting chiropractic through advocacy set an example that I hope all ICA members aspire to emulate.

“I am reminded of our Founder Dr. B.J. Palmer’s famous quote, ‘We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.’ It is truly fitting as I reflect on Dr. McLean’s decades of service to chiropractic and to humanity. He directly benefited tens of thousands of lives and the ripple effect of that will continue for decades, improving the lives of millions.”

Dr. Michael McLean and his wife Dr. Pat had five children. Our condolences go out to them and the remaining family. Announcement of memorials or services will be provided when available.

In 2014 at Cleveland Chiropractic College, when the ICA had our annual meeting on campus and my father last spoke, Pat is the one that said to me first, ‘You will be the President of ICA.’ I never thought it possible. She saw things in others and never hesitated to speak it. She was a beacon of power, light, strength, courage, integrity all animated inside such a beautiful shell of a human being. More than 35 years ago, I remember her walking around the halls of DE, pregnant, with a beautiful flowing dress on, and smiling ear to ear, sharing so much love and compassion.”

Thank you, Michael McLean, for saving this woman’s life so we all could be touched by her. My heart is broken as many of ours are, but Pat would prefer it if we laughed out loud and danced. So, in memory of my dear friend, sister, and mother, I will laugh and dance; not today, because today my heart hurts, but I will soon.”

Dr. Pat will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues. Her passion and commitment to her patients were evident in every aspect of her practice. Her legacy will live on through the countless patients and doctors she helped over the years, the organizations she supported, and her contributions to the field of chiropractic.

ICA Pays Tribute to the Legal Lion – George McAndrews https://www.chiropractic.org/ica-pays-tribute-to-the-legal-lion-george-mcandrews/ Mon, 17 Apr 2023 01:32:39 +0000 https://www.chiropractic.org/?p=37791 ...]]>

Falls Church, VA (April 11, 2023). The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) pays tribute to George Pellegrin McAndrews as we mourn his passing. According to the obituary available on line at Legacy, Mr. McAndrews passed away peacefully on Good Friday. Married to his wife Katharine for 59 years, “Papa George” as his family called him had five children, 21 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The son of a chiropractor (Dr. Patrick McAndrews), he was an All-State basketball player in high school and state champion on track and field. He went on to study mechanical engineering at the University of Notre Dame and earned a BSME with honors and winning the award of Engineer of the Year.

George would delay his education to serve two years in the Navy with his brother Tom, and as part of his deployment participated in Operation Redwing, a series of 17 nuclear detonations conducted in the South Pacific. With thousands of other military personnel, George and Tom were later officially designated “Atomic Veterans” for the unique nature of their service. George later enrolled at Notre Dame Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Law Review and Chairman of the National Council of Law Review Editors. Upon graduation, he served for two years as a law clerk to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Over the course of his 55 year career as a trial attorney, Mr. McAndrews built a strong and successful record. Were it not for his legal prowess, the attempt to completely destroy the chiropractic profession might have been successful. Mr. McAndrews served as lead counsel almost two decades long landmark antitrust case, Wilk, et al. v. AMA, et al. The case which had many twists and turns, ended in the favor of chiropractic in large part because of George McAndrews. As lead attorney, he is credited with saving the chiropractic profession.

At the conclusion of the protracted legal battle, District Judge Getzendanner summarized her findings with the following, “The AMA and its officials, including Dr. Sammons, instituted a boycott of chiropractors in the mid-1960s by informing AMA members that chiropractors were unscientific practitioners and that it was unethical for a medical physician to associate with chiropractors. The purpose of the boycott was to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession. This conduct constituted a conspiracy among the AMA and its members and an unreasonable restraint of trade in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act.

The AMA sought to spread the boycott to other medical societies… The plaintiffs are entitled to injunctive relief against the AMA…” https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/FSupp/671/1465/2595129/

As we pay tribute to this legal lion, let us also remember that the work is not done. We are still, decades later weeding out the institutionalized bias discrimination against chiropractors and their patients in federal programs, policies and laws as a result of the AMA doctors who used their influence to restrain chiropractic over 50 years ago. The ICA with your help will continue this good fight.

Remembering Dr. Sanghak Oh Harrison https://www.chiropractic.org/remembering-dr-sanghak-oh-harrison/ Mon, 13 Feb 2023 15:48:48 +0000 https://www.chiropractic.org/?p=36484 Remembering Dr. Sanghak Oh Harrison (1954-2023)

It is with great sorrow that the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) announces the passing of

Dr. Sanghak Oh Harrison on January 31, 2023. Dr. Sang was an inspirational leader to many in the Chiropractic profession. Dr. Sang graduate from Life Chiropractic College (now Life University) in March of 1983.

ICA President, Dr. Selina Sigafoose Jackson stated, “While I never had the privilege of meeting Sang, I have witnessed the fruit of her dedication to our profession and for that I am eternally grateful.”

After graduating she moved to California to practice Chiropractic. This is where she met her late husband Dr. Don Harrison. From 1986-2010, Dr. Sang was instrumental in helping to grow and teach CBP Technique systems to Chiropractors around the globe.

Dr. Sang served for several decades as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Chiropractic BioPhysics® NonProfit, a chiropractic nonprofit research foundation. She was instrumental in the early years of successful publication of research papers on subluxation detection on Xray and correction using CBP® Technique. This was at a time when it was very challenging for chiropractors in private practice to have papers accepted for publication in the Index Medicus literature.

ICA Vice-President, Dr. Joe Betz added, “I had the pleasure of working with Sang on so many projects in the profession. Whether it was the numerous research projects with CBP® technique, ICA’s Representative Assembly or teaching at CBP® Seminars, Sang was one of those quiet leaders, behind the scenes, making sure things got done. Her amazing work ethic will long serve as an inspiration to many in the profession.”

Sang was very artistic and provided nearly all the original artwork for early CBP® textbooks and published research papers. She was a regular columnist for the American Journal of Clinical Chiropractic. Sang also served on the ICA Representative Assembly for the state of Wyoming in the early 2000’s. Her leadership in the profession will be missed.

ICA Member, Len Siskin, DC recalls, “What most people didn’t realize is, Sang woke up at 4AM and worked until 8PM seven days per week for thirty years with few days off in dedication to the Chiropractic profession and the development of Chiropractic BioPhysics®. She remembered details about every one of the many thousands of people who attended CBP® seminars. She supported Dr. Don Harrison while he went through school for two simultaneous graduate degrees (PhD in applied mathematics and a Master’s of Science in Engineering) after already completing a couple of decades in Chiropractic practice. Even while Don was in graduate school, they continued teaching seminars and performing services for the chiropractic profession. Sang worked with Don to use their personal funds to fight lawsuits to protect the chiropractic profession. She was one of the most intelligent and dedicated people I’ve known.”

In her personal life, she spent time gardening and caring for animals. Sang had one son Erin Molyneux. She was a single mother while attending Life Chiropractic College and worked her way through school to support her young family.

Stepdaughter Holly Harrison tells us, “Her internal strength and work ethic were incredible. She even Ph-balanced the vegetables in the greenhouse my dad had built for her. In remembrance of her, hear her words, ‘Help someone and they will help you.’”

The International Chiropractors Association sends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Sang. May her memory live on and inspire future generations.

We Will Never Forget

September 11, 2022 (Falls Church, VA) Twenty-one years later, the morning of September 11 is engrained in most of our memories as if it just took place.

Chiropractors Volunteered As Long as the Tents Stayed Up

The attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Northern Virginia are among the most horrific attacks in history. As grim and horrific of the images of the World Trade Center buildings on fire and falling and the Pentagon on fire, there are images of good that developed over the days and weeks that followed. The mirror images of the horrors of this time are those in our community of doctors of chiropractic – ICA members and others pulling together, volunteering for weeks on end to give chiropractic care to recovery workers at both the Pentagon and the World Trade Center site.

ICA’s Dr. Coralee Van Egmond Spent a Month at the Pentagon with others like former ICA Board member, Dr. Donald Hirsh of Maryland.

Please take a few minutes today to reflect on the events of 9-11-2001 and the acts of service and sacrifice of so many in the days, weeks, and years that followed. Thank you to all who served from the chiropractic community and those who served and serve in uniform as first responders and as members of the military.

Honoring Dr. Stephanie Youngblood https://www.chiropractic.org/honoring-dr-stephanie-youngblood/ Sat, 03 Sep 2022 00:25:27 +0000 https://www.chiropractic.org/?p=28263 ...]]>

2 September 2022 (Falls Church, VA) It is with great sadness that the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) announces the passing of Dr. Stephanie Youngblood of Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Stephanie Youngblood was a trailblazer. As a 1984 graduate at Life Chiropractic College (now Life University), Dr. Youngblood walked the talk of principled chiropractic.

ICA President, Dr. Selina Sigafoose Jackson stated, “Dr. Stephanie was on the ICA Board when I joined leadership.  Her gentle compassion and concern with fierce passion for chiropractic left a lasting impression on me. I know she touched so many lives both in her practice but also on the politics of Chiropractic.  She was a great warrior for many years for ICA and the patients we served. She will be deeply missed.”

Dr. Youngblood was a founding member and Past President of the Nevada Chiropractic Council (NCC). Dr. Youngblood was named NCC Chiropractic Physician of the Year in 2018. A recognized leader of the profession, Dr. Youngblood was appointed to the Chiropractic Physician’s Board of Nevada by Governor Kenny Guinn in 2000 and served for 8 years, the last four years as President.

In her more than 35 years in practice, and as an ICA member, Dr. Youngblood set an example of leadership and true dedication to the profession through regular, consistent advocacy on behalf of the ICA and the chiropractic profession. Dr. Youngblood was elected as the Nevada Representative to the Assembly where she served from 1990 to 2006. She then served on the ICA Board of Directors from 2006-2014. Dr. Youngblood understood the importance of being politically engaged at the state and federal level to educate and advocate on behalf of the profession.

Dr. Donald Hirsh, former ICA Board Member and Chair expressed his intense grief at his close friend, Dr. Stephanie Youngblood’s passing. He noted that she was among the first women to serve on the ICA Board and that she was fearless when advocating for the profession. He concluded, “Stephanie was a unique individual with great compassion, leadership skills and willing to put the long hours into walking the halls of Congress, and attending political functions in order to advocate for the ICA and chiropractic. She never said no when asked to serve or donate.”

ICA Vice President, Dr. Joe Betz provided, “Dr. Youngblood has been an inspiration to me for over 20 years when we were both members of the Representative Assembly of the ICA. She was a true leader of the profession and motivational figure to so many young chiropractors. She will be sorely missed.”

Dr. Jason O. Jaeger commented, “I was introduced to Stephanie Youngblood, DC in the 1980’s by my Mom. They were friends and met through the Las Vegas Rotary Business Club. I was studying pre-law at UNLV in Las Vegas. She was my chiropractor after I had a severe injury. It didn’t take long for her to tell me my real path and mission needed to be chiropractic. It wasn’t long before I changed my major and life path. Since then,  every opportunity, association, regulatory board and path to serve chiropractic I’ve had,  was a path forged, and a door opened by Dr. Youngblood. She is my mentor, a big sister, and my friend. I cannot believe she’s gone. I miss her. I miss her  infectious laughter, love and light. Stephanie, heaven is now a better place, with you in their midst. “

Dr. Youngblood spent over 35 years as an active advocate of educating and spreading public awareness of the benefits of Chiropractic. Her practice focused on health promotion chiropractic care across the lifespan.

Immediate Past President of the ICA, Dr. Stephen Welsh commented, “Twenty years ago, Dr. Stephanie Youngblood welcomed me to the ICA Board.  As a tireless chiropractic warrior, an active ICA legislative advocate, a colleague, and my good friend, she will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her spirit will continue to guide us, always.”

Beth Clay, ICA Executive Director commented, “Dr. Stephanie Youngblood will be greatly missed by all that knew her. We can honor her best by following in her footsteps of advocacy, service, and compassion; by finding the joy, love and laughter in the dawn of each new day!”

Details from the family on a celebration of life are pending.
