Subject: Question About Chiropractic Care?
To Whom it may concern:
I am a patient who receives regular chiropractic care and I was just
wondering what it means to be a principle based Chiropractor? If you
could elaborate for me I would greatly appreciate it.
L.
Good Afternoon Ms. W.
Thank you for your post to the Chiropractic Awareness Council Website.
Your question, as I understand it, is a definition of what a principled
chiropractor is. A principle, by definition, is a fundamental truth or
law of explanation. If you took the time to peruse the website, you most
likely found the section describing the "33 Principles of Chiropractic".
These are the basic "laws of explanation" of what chiropractic is all
about. Therefore, a principled chiropractor is one who focuses his
practice and the patient experience on adherence to those truths.
In a nutshell, this would entail a chiropractor who does spinal analysis
for the presence of vertebral subluxation and accompanying nerve
interference, and who utilizes various chiropractic adjusting techniques
to address the subluxations with the intent of reducing nerve
interference. Because the nervous system controls all aspects of human
existence, the resulting physiological changes that occur with the
reduction of nerve interference is the health benefit of this
interaction. This response is not controlled by the chiropractor, but by
the patient's own innate intelligence. As such, no two patients will
respond to the same practitioner or technique in the same manner, as we
are all unique.
Bottom line? A principled chiropractor treats the patient's subluxation,
not the presenting condition or symptomatic experience. I hope this
helps to clarify your understanding.
Sincerely,
Dr. Steven J. Silk
